According to the discovery of science on how identical twins comes about is “from the fertilization of a single egg that splits in two.” These “identical twins share all of their genes and are always of the same sex”. They almost have the same type of human forms but having different souls. Their physical forms are very much related with each other. They are almost in-synch in their thinking, feeling and sense. They are perceived to be 2 different souls because they differ in personalities and preferences but they get along very well and care much for each other that it is hard for them to live separately and strangely from each other. Unlike fraternal twins, they result “from the fertilization of two separate eggs during the same pregnancy.” Here, they have entirely different physical forms, apparently having different souls. They may have same gender but their personalities and preferences would be not surprisingly different from each other. Returning to the story of Esav and Yakuv, they are presumably fraternal since they have marked disparities in features. Esav is described as hairy red and Yakuv is fair skinned. Colors give some clues of their personalities. Esav is temperamental, free-spirited, and experimental while Yakuv is the reserved type, cautious and calculating. Their extreme contrasting personalities could be the reason for their misunderstanding since their fetal ages.

Conflict is inevitable. Whatever the reason of each other, it has resulted to so much hurt, pain, harm, scars, separation and conflict. All of us vie for justice and vindication from our deep wounds, shock and trauma. Our judgments have been clouded because it is difficult to accept where we have been wrong. It is hard to expose our vulnerabilities, and it is severely challenging to admit our disagreement on our lot in life. We are all fighting to preserve our image, maintain our position and most of all our greatest weakness which has entered humanity is to challenge G-D’s ways of eating, consuming, agreeing and becoming one with the Knowledge of good and that is also evil. We have thought that we can be like Him, be equal to Him although we deny and overlook this strongly, and believing we can make things much better for Him.

I have come to realize that Adam was a righteous person when he was created so his reasons could be for all the right reasons of thinking everything was to be of service to G-D. But, unfortunately it wasn’t the right approach in serving G-D. Instead of being contented of serving Him according to His Way, we have challenged this, tried to elevate ourselves to be co-equal with Him and for good reasons of making things better for Him and everything. This could be the hardest lesson to learn, knowing our place in the universe and in the world. For some of us or even many of us, who want to be contented to live life simply, happily and healthily, have been disturbed and disrupted by this alternative lifestyle of being better, smarter, stronger, faster, and having more to the point that many boundaries have been crossed, moved and removed. As a result, many are wounded, hurting, in pain, and dejected. Others opted to be angry, defensive and offensive. It has become a web of issues, a very complex network of tangled offenses and defenses. Where to start and how to resolve the intricately intertwined entanglements without breaking anybody seems to be an impossible feat. Inevitably, lives have to be broken to disentangle the endless work-web of offenses and defenses.

Before all this grand design, we have to work through all the confusions, frustrations and chaotic environment that we have come to know and live in. We have to have something to hold onto in order to work through all of our sufferings and hardships. This wonderful song of… Just Give Me a Reason by Pink and N. Ruess… is not only a love song between humans because everything in this world is to be used, ultimately, for our Creator. Everything comes from Him and, this can be a message from Him that this song can be our song for Him. Thus, the song can be the outcry of our soul to our Creator, for Him to give us a reason to hold onto. And there are a lot of reasons if we could just pause and listen…

Some of these Reasons are:

He is very much active and involved in all of our activities. He takes notice of every issue, every offense we did or done to us and every defense taken against us and by us.

He is Just and Righteous. He will either discipline us or defend us. He will either protect us or fight us.

We cannot fool Him and neither can they.

He is Just and will do Rightly the messes we, all, have incurred.
